A California man was arrested Saturday at the Manns Harbor bridge checkpoint after investigators found 13 pounds of marijuana, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, ecstasy and LSD in his vehicle, according to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was stopped at the checkpoint as he tried to enter the county about 2 p.m. and an investigator working the detail noticed the smell of marijuana, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Entry into Dare County has been restricted since March 17 to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

A search of the vehicle yielded the illegal drugs and cash. The sheriff’s office narcotics division came out to assist with the case.

David Warren Raney, 61, of Willow Creek, California, was charged with felony trafficking marijuana and felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, the news release said.

Raney was being held on a $20,000 secured bond.
