Sheriff’s Office: Driver arrested after pointing gun at cars in Currituck County

A Newport News, Va., man was arrested Sunday after the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office received a road rage report of a driver pointing a gun at several motorists on U.S. 158.

The driver, in a black Audi, found the vehicle on Tulls Creek and made a traffic stop with several back up units, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Russell Collins of Newport News, Va., on charges of careless and reckless driving, assault by pulling a gun, going armed to the terror of the people, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of drugs/paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.

Bond was set at $6,500 secured.
