Three shot to death in Elizabeth City include 3-year-old and a woman from Manteo


Police have identified three victims who died from gunshot wounds in Elizabeth City Thursday evening, including a woman and a 3-year-old girl from Roanoke Island.

According to an Elizabeth City Police Department press release, officers were called to the 500 block of Perry and Jordan streets at 5:02 p.m. to a report of shots being fired.

Witnesses told The Daily Advance they heard multiple gunshots that sounded like they came from different weapons and the victims were inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, police encountered several individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

De’Shay Berry, 39, and Allura Pledger, 3, both from Manteo, and Jaquan White, 18, of Elizabeth City, succumbed to their injuries.

Police did not say if Berry and Pledger are related, but they both had Scarborough Street addresses listed in the press release.

No other details about the shooting were released.
