With blown sand on the road in many locations and some minor overwash at Pea Island, Mirlo Beach and Buxton, NCDOT NC 12 advises drivers to stay cautious while traveling on the highway while crews work to move sand off the highway and shore up dune lines as inclement weather persists.
The next high tide is around 2-2:30 p.m. according to NCDOT officials. As of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, roads remain open.
