[Submitted]

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, the Merritt—a sidecaster dredge operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—began dredging the Connection Channel to reduce the shoaling that has occurred within Hatteras Inlet. Dredging in this area continued through Friday, May 6, 2022.

The Merritt also dredged in the Sloop Channel for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) during this window. Dredging is expected to continue within the Rollinson Channel for NCDOT.
