Potential tropical cyclone to bring strong rip currents, dangerous shore break next week

The National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City (NOAA) is tracking a disturbance in the southern Gulf of Mexico that is expected to become Tropical Storm Alex later today and cross through southern Florida tomorrow, June 4.

The system will continue into the Atlantic Ocean passing several hundred miles south of North Carolina.

According to the release, The main threat locally from this system will be strong rip currents, as well as dangerous shore break late Sunday through at least the middle of next week.

Additional briefings will be sent as conditions warrant.
