Northeast North Carolina Employer Resource Summit 2023 set for February 9

The “Northeast North Carolina Employer Resource Summit 2023” will be held on February 9, 2023, at the K.E. White Graduate Center in Elizabeth City.

Employers can register to attend this event to connect with members of the Community Partnership. The partnership includes College of The Albemarle, United States Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center, Albemarle Commission, Apprenticeship NC, Elizabeth City State University, NC Career and Technical Education, NC Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC), NC Works and the Northeast NC Career Pathways.

The event is designed for employers to connect with higher education institutions and agencies to establish “workforce talent pipelines in Northeast North Carolina through apprenticeships, internships, externships, work-based learning opportunities, and other state-sponsored programs,” as referenced in the flier linked below.  College of The Albemarle provides Workforce Development programs in the high-demand fields that so many employers need.  Some of the offered programs include COA’s Nursing, Emergency Medical Science (E.M.S.), Medical Assisting (M.A.), Medical Lab Technology (M.L.T.), Health and Fitness Science, Surgical Technology, Welding Technology, Computer Integrated Machining (C.I.M.), Aviation Technology, HVAC, Culinary Arts, Computer-Aided Drafting (C.A.D.), Information Technology, and Business.

“College of The Albemarle (COA) is pleased to be a part of this community partnership,” said Dr. Evonne Carter, COA Vice President of Learning.  “We have been working with Apprenticeship NC since early 2022 to establish opportunities for our students to work in their field of study while completing their degree or certification through COA. Apprenticeships benefit employers and apprentices.  The employers build a pipeline of workers, and the apprentices are supported to take college courses, work with a mentor, make a wage during the apprenticeship period and have a strong relationship with the company.  There are currently funds to help support businesses in this process, and COA is motivated to meet the needs of area employers through these partnerships.”

Interested employers may register by emailing D05-SMB-ALC-CMD@uscg.mil.  The registration deadline is Friday, January 27, 2023.
