The Dare County Public Works Department has announced that there will be no changes to the Dare County trash collection schedule over Memorial Day weekend 2023. All areas will operate on their normal schedule on Monday, May 29, 2023.
The Dare County C&D Landfill, Buxton Transfer Station, Rodanthe Recycle Center and Manteo Recycle Yard will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2023, in observance of Memorial Day.
In addition, all Dare County offices will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2023, in observance of Memorial Day. Dare County offices will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
The Town of Kitty Hawk’s Saturday trash collection for the east side (ocean side) of U.S. 158 (the bypass) will begin Saturday, May 27, 2023, and continue through Labor Day.

REMINDER: The Dare County Public Works Department only provides trash collection for the Town of Kitty Hawk and the unincorporated areas of Dare County. Unincorporated Dare County does not include areas within a town’s limits.
