Areas like ours are a beacon for artistry. With no shortage of creatives along the beach, Glenn Eure Ghost Fleet Gallery located in Nags Head is the latest to invite those with a flare for the written word to participate in its upcoming 2026 celebratory exhibition, My Outer Banks. The gallery is actively seeking written submissions that capture the unique spirit, nature, and personal adventures found within the North Carolina island community.
My Outer Banks, which pairs the written word with visual arts, will run from April 7 through May 14, 2026. All literary entries will be on display for public reading during regular gallery hours throughout the duration of the show. Literary artists may submit one work of poetry or prose with all submissions limited to a maximum of six 8.5″ x 11″ pages. There is a $10 entry fee for each literary submission.
Writers whose work incorporates visual elements should note that those entries will be categorized under the visual arts guidelines, though artists are welcome to enter both the literary and visual exhibits.
A $150 award will be presented to the first-place winner. Additionally, the prize-winning entry will be featured and read aloud during a public reception held at the gallery on April 12, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The deadline for all literary entries has been extended from March 19 to March 28, 2026.

For those preferring in-person delivery, the art gallery will accept entries between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 210 E Driftwood St, Nags Head, NC.
