The community is rallying behind local musician and former 99.1 The Sound morning show host Doug Duenow following a mini stroke on March 6, 2026.
According to the official GoFundMe for Duenow organized by Bill Rae, Duenow sustained the stroke during an evening meal. “When he regained consciousness, he found himself on his kitchen floor in severe pain,” reads the summary. The fall from a kitchen stool amid the medical emergency had caused a broken hip.
Following regular neurological testing and an operation to pin the hip, donations of all denominations are being collected amid his recovery. Collected funds will go directly towards medical expenses, rehabilitation, and daily living costs.
As of Friday, March 27, 2026, just one day since the GoFundMe was announced, a total of eighty donations have been made totaling $8,875 of the $10,000 goal.
