The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau will debut Earth & Arts OBX, an Earth Day celebration and ribbon cutting marking the official opening of the new soundside boardwalk in Nags Head on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 4 p.m. until sunset at the Soundside Event Site located at 6800 S. Croatan Highway.
“We’re excited to share this incredible new gathering spot with the community,” says Lee Nettles, Executive Director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.
“This event is an opportunity to experience the new Soundside Boardwalk while connecting with the people and organizations dedicated to preserving the character and environment of this special place for generations to come.”
The event invites the community to celebrate Earth Day while experiencing the new Soundside Boardwalk for the first time. Festivities will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by live music from Brooke & Nick and Hot Sauce, a curated marketplace featuring environmentally conscious artists and makers, hands-on kids’ activities, and opportunities to engage with local nonprofits focused on conservation and sustainability.
“Earth & Arts OBX is a celebration of the spirit of the Outer Banks, where natural beauty, creativity, and stewardship come together. The views from the boardwalk are spectacular and give us all yet another way to experience the natural beauty of the Outer Banks. We hope that folks will come out and enjoy the afternoon with us.”
