OBX Dementia Friendly Coalition aims to honor caregivers with a night of line dancing

Whether you’re a seasoned pro, or have never stepped foot in a line dance, the Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition extends an open invitation to dust off your boots for their “Let’s Dance for Dementia” benefit event on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Hosted in partnership with local dance group Boot Scootin’ Beaches at the Jolly Roger restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, the evening will raise vital support and awareness for our local community caregivers.

The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. with the Working Women’s Wednesday Dinner, featuring live music by Phil Watson and a lively atmosphere for drinks and networking.

At 6:30 p.m., the energy shifts to the dance floor for free line dancing lessons open to all skill levels.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or have never stepped foot in a line dance, the instruction is designed to get everyone moving for a good cause.

Attendees are encouraged to show their solidarity by wearing denim for dementia and purple for compassion.

This event provides opportunities for on-site cash donations and information for those interested in volunteering to help the coalition’s mission of supporting the local dementia community.
