Building on the momentum of its previous season, the Theatre of Dare has pulled back the curtain on its 2026-2027 season.
The community theater organization is returning with an expansive selection of shows designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes, featuring everything from dark comedies and suspenseful thrillers to family-oriented musicals.
To accommodate its growing audience, the theater is offering several flexible price plans.
Patrons can purchase a standard 5-show Mainstage season for $100, or upgrade to the VIP package for $115.
For those interested in the full theatrical experience, a 6-show season is available for $120, which includes the Off-ToDway production of Marjorie Prime at Dare Arts. A 6-show VIP package is also offered for $135.
The Mainstage season kicks off in September 2026 with Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s satirical Happy Birthday, Wanda June, followed by a suspenseful November production of The House on Haunted Hill. The schedule continues in February 2027 with the cult-classic musical Reefer Madness, the hilarious farce Moon Over Buffalo in March and April, and concludes in May with the whimsical A Year with Frog & Toad.
The theater’s “Off-ToDway” programming remains a vital part of the schedule, utilizing unique local venues to bring art to the community.
Additional offerings include Greater Tuna in June and July of 2026, a Christmas “Surprise” Fundraiser in December, and the uniquely titled Moscow, Moscow, Moscow, Moscow, Moscow, Moscow upstairs at the Black Pelican in January of 2027. The season’s specialized programming wraps up in March with Marjorie Prime in March at the Dare Arts location in Manteo.
Organizers emphasize that this inclusive season is curated to offer a complete emotional journey for attendees, providing plenty of laughs, a few scares, and high-quality entertainment for the whole family.
