The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Go with the Flo Adventures, a new American Sailing Association school now operating out of Marshes Light Marina in Manteo.
Founded by Captain Greg Florence and Amy Florence, Go with the Flo Adventures offers ASA 101 through 118 courses, taking students from their first time on a sailboat through certifications for bareboat cruising. Captain Greg, a career educator with a Ph.D. and a U.S. Coast Guard license, leads instruction with a hands-on approach designed to get students out on the water quickly.
“Greg and Amy are exactly the kind of entrepreneurs who make the Outer Banks so special. We’re proud to welcome Go with the Flo Adventures to the Chamber and can’t wait to see where the wind takes them,” said Melissa Harrison, Chamber Board Chair and Peak Resources Administrator.
Captain Greg Florence cut the ribbon, joined by Amy Florence, Manteo Mayor, Tod Clissold, Chamber Board members, and SPARC Committee members.
For Captain Greg and Amy Florence, the ribbon cutting marked the start of a new chapter on the water. As the school sets sail, Florence shared his vision for the journey ahead: “Hoping for fair winds and following seas, knowing many sailing adventures lie ahead.”
