Outer Banks Festival of Model Aviation to benefit Beach Food Pantry on May 30

The Dare County Radio Control Flyers will host the Outer Banks Festival of Model Aviation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 30, offering local residents of all ages a chance to pilot a radio-controlled aircraft at no cost.

The event will take place at the club’s flying field, located at 1521 Link Road in Manns Harbor. Attendees can access the field through the entrance of the Outer Banks Gun Club.

Festival admission is free with the donation of at least one non-perishable food item per person or a comparable cash donation. All admission proceeds and food collections will benefit the Beach Food Pantry. Admission includes a complimentary lunch of grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and beverages.

In addition to free flight sessions with instructor pilots, local residents who participate in a flight will receive a free raffle ticket. The drawing features three complete, ready-to-fly radio-controlled airplane prize packages, which include club memberships and have a combined value of $1,476.

Additional raffle tickets for a separate drawing—featuring two airplane prizes and an Academy of Model Aeronautics membership valued at $696—will be available for purchase at $10 each or three for $20.

For more information, to view a location map or to make a flight reservation, visit the club’s website at dcrcf.club or call 252-656-2359.
