Organizers of the Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament are calling on community members to turn old undergarments into wearable masterpieces for its annual decorated bra contest.
The initiative encourages participants to use paint, sequins, ribbons, seashells, or fishing flair to support breast cancer awareness. All proceeds raised will directly benefit local cancer patients in Dare and Currituck counties through the Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO Cancer) program.
To enter, participants must submit a $100 fee at drop-off. Completed designs must be delivered to the Pavilion between Wednesday, August 6, and Saturday, August 8. Tournament participants and guests will judge the entries through monetary donations, and the design that raises the most funds will receive an award at the banquet on Sunday, August 9.
Named in honor of a passionate local angler, the Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament is held annually at Pirate’s Cove Marina in Manteo in conjunction with the Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament.
The 2026 Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament will be held August 8-9, 2026.
