The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Black Flag Galley, a scratch kitchen located at 3701 N. Croatan Highway in Kitty Hawk.
Chamber Board Chair and Peak Resources Administrator Melissa Harrison welcomed Chamber members, board representatives, SPARC Committee members, and community supporters who gathered to mark the occasion alongside owners Fran and Lance Marler, who cut the ribbon together.
Fran and Lance are longtime Outer Banks locals who’ve worked at restaurants throughout the area and know their way around a kitchen. The name Black Flag Galley draws on the maritime tradition of the galley, the ship’s kitchen where the crew is fed and taken care of during a long day at sea.
Fran and Lance have brought that same spirit to their new spot, turning out bowls, salads, seafood and handhelds, all made fresh from scratch and ready to eat in or take to go.
