Outer Banks Forever has released a new 27-minute documentary capturing a landmark achievement by local students on historic aviation grounds. Produced by Rayolight Productions, the film chronicles the three-year journey of First Flight High School aviation students who built a fully functional, FAA-certified airplane.
The assembly took place on the grounds of Wright Brothers National Memorial, where Orville and Wilbur Wright completed the first powered flight on Dec. 17, 1903. The student-built aircraft took flight this spring, marking the first time an airplane has been built on the historic site in 123 years.
Outer Banks Forever sponsored the project’s video series and final documentary as part of its ongoing support for community and educational initiatives within the Outer Banks national parks.
