The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division will hold three career fairs next week to recruit temporary administrative associates to assist with new toll collection operations.
The Ferry Division has multiple openings at multiple locations. The positions are entry level, training is provided, and employees will work a seven-days-on, seven-days-off schedule.
The career fairs will be held:
- Tuesday, Sept. 22 – Currituck Ferry Terminal, 173 Courthouse Rd., Currituck, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 23 – Hatteras Ferry Terminal, 59063 N.C. Highway 12, Hatteras, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Thursday, Sept. 24 – Bayview Ferry Terminal, 229 N.C. Highway 306, Bath, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The career fairs will give prospective employees an opportunity to learn more about the available positions and the experience of working for the Ferry Division.
People interested in an entry-level opportunity with a unique work schedule are encouraged to attend the career fair most convenient for them, or visit the N.C. Jobs website and apply online.
State law enacted this summer directs the NCDOT and the Board of Transportation to establish and begin collecting tolls on all ferry routes starting Jan. 1, 2027. Under the law, tolls will be required on the Currituck-Knotts Island, Bayview-Aurora, Hatteras-Ocracoke and Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach vehicle ferry routes. Tolls are already collected on the division’s other routes.
