The 18th annual Throwdown Surf Classic returns to Chicahauk Beach Access on Saturday, October 10, 2026, bringing young surfers, families, and community members together for a day of beachside competition and charitable fundraising.
Organized by Throwdown Youth Foundation, a local nonprofit, the family-friendly event features young competitors ages 4 through 18, alongside open shortboard and longboard divisions. The action begins around 8 a.m., running through roughly 15 heats of boys’ and girls’ divisions before wrapping up with an afternoon awards ceremony.
In addition to the action in the water, the event will feature food, music, merchandise sales, a silent auction, and raffle prizes. All proceeds raised throughout the day directly benefit the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, which provides financial assistance to local families facing debilitating illness or personal hardship. To date, the event has raised $429,865 for local charitable causes.
Registration is open through October 3 at 9 a.m. for an entry fee of $55 per division. Several divisions fill up quickly, so interested participants are encouraged to check availability and register early.
More information, including online registration and how to volunteer at the event, can be found on the Throwdown Surf Classic LinkTree here.
