Our ‘Summer of Fun’ is done, but the memories live on: Share your favorite 2026 snapshots

As we say goodbye to our summer season on the Outer Banks, we know that we still can hold onto the memories that make this place so special. From sunrise walks along the shoreline and afternoons spent searching for seashells to family beach days, fishing adventures, and evenings watching the sun dip below the horizon, summer on the OBX leaves us with moments we’ll remember long after the season changes.

Visitors and locals alike have enjoyed another season of salty breezes, sandy toes, coastal adventures, and time spent with family and friends. Whether it was a first visit to the beach, a favorite annual tradition, a quiet morning by the water, or a spontaneous moment of fun, every summer story adds to the unique character of our Outer Banks community.

As we look ahead to cooler days and a new season, we invite you to share your favorite summer memories with us. Did you capture a beautiful sunrise, a memorable family gathering, a wildlife encounter, a day on the water, or a special Outer Banks moment?

Head over to the 99.1 The Sound Facebook page and drop your favorite summer photos in the comments of our recent post! Help us celebrate the memories that made this season unforgettable. Your photos may even be featured as we look back on another wonderful summer along the coast!

Thank you for sharing your smiles, adventures, and the beauty of the Outer Banks with our community. Here’s to the memories made, the friendships created, and the many seasons still to come.
